First things first: my name is John, but I go by Jack. If you'd like to get in touch, email me at [email protected].

I am currently employed as a Senior R&D Solutions Engineer at Pasteur Labs, where I work on applying differentiable simulation techniques to problems in fusion energy. Prior to that, I worked as a Research Scientist at Zap Energy on the Theory and Modeling team, where we pursued net fusion gain via the sheared flow-stabilized Z pinch concept. Prior to that, I completed my PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington. I was co-advised by Professors Uri Shumlak of the Aeronautics and Astronautics department, and Jingwei Hu of the Applied Mathematics department.

Prior to graduate school, I worked at Square on the Payments Engineering team, and was a technical co-founder at Inscriptive, Inc.
