Poster at APS 2023
I presented a poster at the 2023 meeting of the American Physical Society Division of Plasma Physics (APS-DPP 2021). The poster's title was "Robust flux limiting of the Runge-Kutta Discontinuous Galerkin method for advection-dominated multiphysics plasma simulations".
The poster described work performed at Zap Energy on limiting schemes for the advection-dominated equations of plasma simulation, specifically the ideal magnetohydrodynamics equations and the multi-fluid equations. Because these equations are nonlinear, discontinuities can arise even from smooth initial data, which makes it difficult to solve them using high-order schemes. In the poster we explored the impact of the positivity-preserving limiter of Zhang and Shu [DOI] on stability of multiphysics problems including ion-neutral interactions and breakdown physics.
